Experienced Senior Advisor. Since his admission to The Exxon Group (now ExxonMobil) in 1979, has been working in the oil and gas industry for the last 40 years predominantly within the so-called downstream oil and in various world geographies and, more recently, in the more general sphere of the Energy Industry. Having held several management positions at the US multinational corporation, based in London and in Paris, was appointed in 1999 President and Chief Executive Officer of ExxonMobil's affiliated companies in Portugal. 

In 2002 he was invited to join Galp Energia where he was appointed to the board holding the position of COO. In Galp Energia Group, he held the presidency of several of the group’s companies, as well as several management positions in in the field of Oil and Natural Gas until 2014.

With extensive management experience and of the evolution of this integrated energy sector over the last 4 decades, including the activity, at the time expanding, of the Exploration and Production of oil and natural gas, coordinated the representation of this company at the external political and technical front within the framework of international organizations representing the sector. 

Holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from IST, Lisbon, where he was also researcher and assistant professor, as well as a post-graduate management degree at AESE/IESE Business School (1996).
